But abortion often is an act of parenting, of mothering, of creation, of loving and protecting one’s family. It certainly is for C., who breaks her own heart and sets aside her own desires in pursuit of her family’s well-being, her daughter’s flourishing. And reproductive justice means supporting families and individuals at any stage of their reproductive lives—their well-being and their freedom to procreate, adopt, build the families and communities they want, without governmental or societal interference.

Even if you are not yet—or never will be—a parent, abortion can be an act of parental love in and of itself.
